  1. Biggest Inspiration
    • My mother, Marian Henry – an AT&T retiree, is my biggest inspiration, my shero, my encouraging champion
  2. Do any women in History inspire you?
    • Yes, my ancestors and all the phenomenal women around the world who paved the way for women that look like me and talk like me.  It’s because of their courage, hard work and dedication that I am able to use my platform to  encourage and pour back into other women and our future generation.
  3. Best advice given to me
    • Don’t negotiate against yourself…Working in your purpose gives you the confidence to be unstoppable.
Kenya Price- Barry
Manager- Billing Operations
Chief Parliamentarian Officer- Network DFW

My biggest inspirations and best advice came from the women in my family.

  1. My Maternal Grandmother was the kindest, generous, inspirational, and quit witted person ever known (in my history).  She had 8 kids and 23 grand kids.  She cooked Sunday breakfast before church for all of us and our neighborhood friends, and afterwards took us to church.  She was sweet as apple pie, but ruled with an iron fist.  She was my best friend.  Her best advice was to ‘stay in this kitchen, the way to a mans heart is through his stomach’ (as a result I not only love to cook but I am REALLY good at it).  And she always said ‘a closed mouth doesn’t get fed’, ) thus I am not shy AT all!
  2. My Mother – she had 0 tolerance for non-sense and beyond serious about learning.  When my two siblings and I could talk, she started teaching us how to read, write and count.  By the time I was 4, I knew how to read every Dr. Seuss book written, my multiplication table, and the definition, subject, and origin of nearly 5,000 words.  Her best advice throughout my childhood was ‘I am going to show you this once, at the most twice.  You have to be sharp in this world or you will get left behind’.  Thus, I became a very fast learner and it has proven through my success in my 19 year succession/tenure at Ameritech, SBC, AT&T.
  3. My Aunt (Sister #2), was a the first Black woman I knew that not only worked in Corporate America, but was also a highly sought model and a world traveler.  I was very happy  for (but slightly envious) my cousins as she traveled the world and bought them exquisite gifts.  She was always perfect, from her hair to her toes.  I knew I wanted to do exactly what she did and more.  She and sister/cousins/grandchildren/nieces – nephews are my biggest fans. J And are extremely proud of my AT&T career.
  4. And last but not least My Aunt –(The Baby); she was Sasha Fierce!  She was gorgeous, savvy, quit witted, street smart, and a no-nonsense individual.  We were only 9 years apart so she was truly my idol.  Her best advice was ‘Never let anyone take advantage of you and you need to shut down bad behavior IMMEDIATELY’.  Thus, I am also very direct; however, combining both my Aunt’s skill sets, I am not only  a Corporate Professional, but also No Nonsense Citizen who gives back in every capacity possible.
